Saddle Stitch
āPer adopts the saddle stitch for every single leather binder all along — a traditional, durable hand-stitching technique. It involves two needles looping around each other. This stitch is stronger yet more flexible than any machine stitching. It cannot be replicated by machinery, as machine needles are unable to change stitching direction.

Edge
āPer pursues ultimate perfection in every product detail, as can be seen from the exquisite edge finishing of each leather piece.
Artisans first sand the glued edges diagonally with coarse sandpaper to create a smooth rounded contour. Then they apply custom-matched dye to the edges, both to preserve the leather and enhance the aesthetic finish. Next, a high-temperature heated flat-headed creaser is pressed along the dyed edges to smooth the surface and help the dye penetrate deeper. After that, a grooved-headed creaser is used to score a neat line around the leather edge. Afterwards, the edges are polished with fine sandpaper. This process is repeated at least twice, sanding with progressively finer sandpaper each time. Lastly, edge wax is spread over the leather edges, then heated and fused with a flat-headed creaser to seal the edges and boost waterproof performance. Additionally, a pre-waxed cloth is rubbed along the edges; the friction generated melts the wax and bonds it firmly to the leather surface.

Us
āPer is a brand mainly focusing on leather notebooks and small leather goods. It was founded in 2021 by two co-founders.
The initial letter ā derives from the first sound a baby makes, symbolizing the very beginning of all things. The latter part Per comes from the last three letters of the word paper, representing that the brand’s core designs and products are closely connected with paper.
